Emerging Artist Competition, 2013

      The Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra hosted its sixth annual Charles F. Davis concerto competition at the Charlevoix Congrational Church. Four exceptionally talented musicians performed for cash prizes.

      Winners were: first place Dana Reynolds, and second place Ella Ruthig receiving $500.00 and $250.00 respectively.


Workshop for String Students, 2013

     Violin, viola, cello and string bass students of all ages and abilities participated in the Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra’s fourth annual Day for Music workshop on Saturday, February 2, at Charlevoix High School.
      Leading the workshop was Carlos Botero from Michigan State University and Valerie Palmieri, conductor of the Adrian College orchestra. The day concluded with a performance that was open to the public.
     The Great Lakes Chamber Orchestra produces live orchestral performances that provide entertainment, education and inspiration for northern Michigan. Support for the orchestra is provided by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation, the Bay Harbor Foundation, the Charlevoix County Community Foundation, Meijer, and hundreds of individual patrons of the arts.
